“Orologi Calamai” was born from the desire of Francesco Calamai to realise this dream: to create men’s watches that are unique in the world; watches with a real story to tell, bearing the indescribable quality of expert workmanship. Each single component of these elegant watches is the best there is.
To be mentioned and never forgotten is the protagonist of this story, Giosuè Calamai, fighter pilot for the Italian Royal Air Force. A life lived with personality, professionalism and courage. The power and the poetry of this story, as told by a father, led Francesco Calamai to embark on a new adventure, to choose a new symbol – being the legendary mythic and wild Starfighter F-104 – and turn it into a particular watch, the G50. The case of this men’s watch was forged by melting the steel of the General Electric turbine assy n. 212111013B that equipped an F-104 of the Italian Air Force.
“We all face our mission in our day life. May this watch remind us to live with the passion and the heart of the great pilots”
Francesco Calamai
Soprana has chosen Calamai Watches because they are unique in representing with excellence an important piece of Italian creativity.
Calamai Collection
OFFICIAL SUPPLIER OF THE ITALIAN AIR FORCE
With the utmost honour and pride, Calamai watches have been presented to all military pilots since 2015.
The Air Force consigns a personalised and exclusive model to each new officer upon receiving their Aviator Badge, thus becoming an integral part of each pilot’s uniform.
The watches accentuate the value of the individual seeking courage in ever action.
This is how it has always been for the pilots of the Italian Air Force, mavens who are curious about what awaits them in every mission.
THE F-104 TURBINE
Giving new life to a legend.
The F-104 is one of the fighter planes that best encapsulates the values present in our watches.
Exuberant and tough to control, the Starfighter was the last fighter plane to be managed entirely by the pilot.
The casing of each watch was forged by melting the steel of the G.E. turbine that powered an F-104 of the Italian Air Force. Indeed, the serial number of the exact turbine disc utilised is engraved on the caseback.
To reach the highest levels of precision, each casing is forged through lost-wax microfusion and then hand-finished.
